Path of Building vs Timeless Jewel Calculator
The calculator and Path of Building solve different parts of the problem. The calculator tells you what the jewel is likely to do, while PoB tells you how that result fits the whole build.

Use the calculator first
Start with the calculator when you are sorting through listings. It is faster for eliminating obviously bad seeds and sockets.
Use Path of Building second
Move to PoB once the calculator gives you a promising result. PoB is where the jewel gets evaluated in the context of the full tree and the rest of the build.
Do not double count the same value
A common mistake is to treat the calculator output and PoB output as two independent bonuses. They are not. One confirms the other.
